The Shadow part 2 (for 5.8.12)

Slowly, over years and years, the Shadow created an army. Some say he had the most powerful army in the world… but you could also argue that he had the only army in the world. The king’s army had slowly gotten smaller and weaker, because many of his men deserted to prove the tales they heard of the Shadow’s powerful army. The Shadow promised those soldiers great riches, power and glory if they would only help him conquer the entire world. He marked his soldiers with a black smear across their face and his thumbprint in blood on their forehead.

5.7.11 Thoughts in Black and White

Simon was crouching down so low he almost could not see over the table. Apparently this was his strategy, but today it was not working.
The little round pieces sat silently taunting him. He stared until the checkered pattern of the board danced before his eyes.
Black swirled into white and white into grey.
With a shaking hand he reached out and made the fatal move.
His opponent laughed. One, two, three pieces where whooshed off the board with one skipping white circle. He looked up at the pout that now covered Simon’s face.
“Sorry, pal, white always wins…it’s uncanny.”

Innocence in Black & White

The innocence of children. The world is black and white. It stays that way for their early childhood and life. As they get older the black shifts to a dark gray, and the white is slowly tinged with a lighter gray. The sliding colors, blending the sharp lines between black and white. The world turns to shades of gray, the right and wrong blending to form a mostly right wrong. We have lost the childish innocence as we grow. The world is revealed as black and white but mostly shades of gray.
O for the innocence of a child again.

(I know I'm not doing the weekly words.. but.. I felt like doing the B&W line for my drabble today)
