Swirling -- Pulsating 5.11.2012


The elements swirl and pulsate. Fire and Ice. Water and Ice. Mortal enemies, did  you know? 
Both are a dichotomy, coexisting in one body. 
“Keep them together, my boy. Keep the enemies closer to you than even the closest of comrades. These two, though unable to serve willingly, will be your greatest assets.”  
The hand closes,  rolls around the elements, contained in the spheres. 
They clink, hissing as they meet. 
Mortal enemies, kept close, bound together. 
“One last thing. Do not ever make the fatal mistake of losing them.” 
“What happens?” 
“Calamity. Disaster. The end of all you know— love.

5.2.11 Disaster in the Castle


The Duke paced back and forth in the tiny room, his arms crossed over his chest and his head bent down. One moment he walked with eyes closed, the next with one hand over his face, incessantly pacing with agitated steps and mind racing with apprehension.
A young man emerged from the other room, his body cloaked in a robe of brocaded blue. His hands and clothes stained red.
“Good heavens, man! What happened?”
“It’s over, my Lord, it’s all over.” He held a reddened knife to his master.
“What is over?”
“The wine, my Lord, it’s all been spilled.”
