Friend

It’s such a strange thing. We were just two people walking along through life. I with my weirdness and you with yours and somehow our paths crossed and we decided our weirdness was mutually compatible.

Now I suppose we’re friends.

And yet I still can’t help looking back on the path and wondering what it was that made them converge. What extraordinary magic is this that sparks in two hearts at the same time, causing a mirror flame in each, drawing us both together?

Whatever it is, I’m glad it happened to you and me.

It’s less lonely with two.

Kind owner for a pleasing plaid flamingo.

This flamingo is well traveled and well behaved.

He enjoys trying to camouflage as one of your shirts in your closet and riding on the back of your bike. He also enjoys a good game of go-fish.

The only reason I must find a new home for this pleasant flamingo is because I’m moving away to college. Growing up. But I am hoping to find another child who could love him as much as I have. If you are interested please write a note to:

5.22.11-Belly Laugh

It had been a busy Sunday: church in the morning, frisbee in the afternoon. Energy was running high. But after a car ride home and a good meal they had quieted down a bit and were playing quietly in her room upstairs. Meanwhile I sat with my laptop trying to decide what to write for today's drabble, and my mom and dad talked in the other room. All was quiet. Suddenly an explosion of laughter erupted from the upstairs room. This was not just a loud chuckle, this was full blown belly laughter. It was a lovely thing to hear.
