response

Hi! My name is Kelly to! I am six! How are you? I am good. I love flamingos! They are my favorite animal. Is your flamingo pretty? I like plaid! Could he keep the monsters out of my closet? Does your flamingo have a name? I would love to have your flamingo if you can not have him. Where do you live? Could he fly to my house? I can not wait to meet him! Can you send me a picture? My address is on the envelope! I am glad you love flamingos! I hope you like college!
Sincerely,
Kelly

fantasies (5.1.13)

The man strides across the lacquered floor and stops at the oak door heavy laden with gothic engravings and knocks thrice.
This was it.
The door opens and the hinges creak in a strange welcome to the man.
“Princess Madeline, Sir Davenport is here.”
“Send him in,” replies the smooth, sultry voice.
And then it hit him.
She was not a figment of his imagination. She was as real as the nose on his face and the hair on his head. Realer than the sun setting over the mountains. Realer than the shoes on his feet and the money in his pocket.
He crossed the threshold and smiled.

{On the Shuttle to Nowheresville} 5.12.12

Daddy, look!” a young boisterous boy bounced up to his father, “I made a rocket!”
The boy's father looked and observed three kitchen chairs stacked up with a plastic plate on top-but he chose to see a rocket.
Wow! Look at that!” he stacked three chairs next to the others and climbed up. “Where're we going captain?”
The boy scrambled into his rocket and took the steering wheel, “Mars! 3, 2, 1- blast offfff!”
Woa! Look at all those stars!” Exclaimed the father.
Even though he knew they had never really left the earth.

5.12.11 cascade - a drabble of 100 words

“Look out, Captain! It’s a huge waterfall!”

The boat careened wildly toward the precipice. The water leaped over the cliff, heedless of the sharp rocks at the bottom. The river dragged the boat along in its mad flight, despite the desperate workings of its captain and crew.

“Captain, we’re not going to make it!”

The young mother looked outside her kitchen window, absently stirring her chocolate chip cookies. At the edge of the yard, she could see her little son playing with the garden hose, piles of small stones, and a plastic ship. Behind her, the pasta pot boiled over.

5.11.11-place

There is a place where pink polar bears pick purple pansies and green gophers gobble grapes. There is a place where magic mermaids meander the mystical sea. There is a place where daring daisies dance and ticklish trees gleefully giggle. There is a place where elegant elephants echo the economic elks and lawn chairs laugh like lemons. I went there today. I picked pansies with the polar bears, and gobbled grapes with the gophers, I danced with the daisies, I laughed with the lawn chairs and I tickled the trees. It was really quite marvelous. And I wasn't even imagining.
