the dust is heavy, thick.
my back. sore, tired.
my eyes are aching and ready to shut.
i must not give up.
i mustn’t give in.
only a few more steps until i reach the door.
lies. painful lies.
more than a few steps.
i can’t see the city.
i don’t want to continue.
but i must....get....water.
my shoes, falling off my feet.
my hands, cracked and callused.
i need sleep.
can’t talk. mouth too dry.
almost there.
