The Speed of Dark

They say darkness is the absence of light. That there is an underlying state of light and darkness encroaches on the light but light wins out in the end. That you can’t have darkness without light.

But what if it’s the other way around? That light is just the absence of darkness. That darkness is foundational and light is constantly fighting to fill the void but it will never win out. Because if that’s the case, then you can never have light without darkness.

That is a terrifying thought.

Because it’s a battle and one of them has to win.
