(for 5.23.2012) Betrayal and Red

I sleep to the sound of crickets singing their song. Or rather I did.
I used to sleep without a fear. Free, moving like the wind, careless.
I took care of me, and that was enough. The creatures were my company.
Then he came.  He looked handsome, what my uneducated brain perceived as handsome. There he stood, everything about him — red. And black. That should have warned me.
He intrigued me.
I befriended him, showed him my woods.
Then one day, he did something I didn’t understand.
He betrayed me.
I lay dying at his feet.
Red. Blood. Betrayal. Trust.

Judas Body

I couldn’t walk this morning when I woke up. Again.

I put my feet on the floor next to my bed and tried. But the muscles were so tight. And the pain was so severe. My dental hygienist looks at my teeth every six months. Tells me that I grind my teeth at night. Maybe I do. But I mostly grind them when I’m trying to walk. When I’m grabbing at the walls and my desk chair in a desperate attempt to keep moving. As if clenching my molars will give my legs strength.

My body has betrayed me. Again.

5.10.11 Semisocialism

There are some things they don’t teach in their fancy Government Law Schools or uptight Political Instructionals. They tell us the horrors of prerogative and license. They tell us the glorious future of collectivism and anti-privacy. But they don’t say how to reach this ultimate goal. Thing is, we’re stuck in the middle. Our leaders are too greedy to surrender the power they’ve taken, and the people are too powerless to stop them. There is no money and no property to be shared. We’ve been roped into a bargain they never intended to uphold. We’ve got nothing left but regret.
