Sunbreak

It is the best job and the worst job in the world. Every day, I bring the daylight. I am the hope each morning. I defeat the darkness.

But only in a way.

I also illuminate the darkness. I expose death, destruction, sorrow, pain. And there is no victory in this. They call it a sunbreak when I shine through the clouds with light shafts that look like divinity. In reality, I am hiding from the sorrow of this broken planet, seeking to shade my eyes as my own heart breaks.

I don’t know how much longer I can endure.

on the way home from work

I rolled down my windows and turned off my music.
The wooshing of the wind through the windows, the occasional click and thrmp thrmp of my windshield wipers, and the sloshing of my tires on the wet pavement was companion enough for my tired ears. Relaxing.
I stuck my arm out the window and the thick cool air felt like the comfort of clean sheets after a long day. Refreshing.
And the sprinkly raindrops, spattering my windshield, were accompanied by the green of the trees, enhanced by the wet gray of the sky. Beautiful.
It was a spring sun shower.

{a flaming ball of plasma} 5.2.12

The sun rises and falls, its brilliant rays illuminating the earth and warming the ground. Then, quicker than it rose, it falls, and appears on the other side of the planet. Since the beginning of time the sun has risen and fallen, day after day, night after night it hides.
Without the sun the earth would be cold. Without the sun we couldn't see anything. Without the sun, this earth would be black. And cold. I think I’d get awful awful tired if that rested on my shoulders. I also think, if that was my job, I’d probably leave the earth cold and black a lot.

(for) 5.21.11-Cloudy Skies and Sunsine

There are some days when smiley giggles and talkative chatter overflow my heart and I'm filled with excited joy. Those days when it doesn't take much to make me laugh, and I dance around and sing. There is sunshine on my face, sparkles in my eyes, and warmth in my heart. But some days there is gloominess all around me and it feels like my smiles are gone. Those days when everything is wrong and I mope around the house. There raindrops on my face, shadows in my eyes, and hardness in my heart. Today was one of those days.
