5.19.12 Manhattan Jungle

The toucans are screaming their birdsong.  The tigers are growling.
I have a headache.
The monkeys are up there yapping in the trees, sticking their tongues out and making dirty gestures. Disgusting.
Panthers are prowling.  The elephant is pooping.  The anteaters are all sneezing on each other.  Skunks are hissing.
Trash is everywhere.
My kid is pulling at my coat.  Wants to see more monkeys…  Really?
This is opening day.  And for all I care, all these smelly creatures should have stayed on the other side of the world where they belong.
We don’t need more animals in New York.

(for) 5.27.11-conversations with a three year old

We went to the zoo today,” he told me.
Really?” I asked him, “what was your favorite animal?”
uummm, all of them! We got to pet them and feed them and watch them!”
Ooohh, that's neat.”
And we saw two camels! One had one hump and one had two humps!”
Oh, wow.”
Do you know what two plus one is?”
Three.”
yes!!” he affirmed, slightly surprised.
Then, after asking few more addition question he closed his eyes and said,
if you close your eyes you can see a rainbow!!”
