5.22.11 Doomed Mission

“I’m not going to lie to you, boys. This is a dangerous rescue op, there’s no guarantee that any of you are coming back alive.”
I tried to pretend that I wasn’t afraid, but I was. I think we all were. We stood there in a perfect line on the tarmac, dressed in spotless uniforms, helmets in our hands. The sun did not beat with much heat, but as I glanced around, I could see that everyone was sweating.
But we were proud. Proud of the honor of such a mission. We were proud to die to save our country.
