For such a well bred as woman as Alice Beckam, the changing world was a world of indecency. For a woman who had grown up sipping tea with her pinky extended and meals prepared with multiple courses, the new fad of TV dinners was a disgrace of tradition. For a woman who had flourished on leisurely moments and exact punctuality, the fast paced world of ‘modernity’ was excruciatingly flustering. For a woman who had cherished the boisterous gatherings and social connection of friends, the obsession over the giant silver screen and new tele tubes was detestable.
Also, Alice hated pumpkins.
