losing language

lol, rofl, brb, cuz, perf, awk, ily, jk, fyi, yolo, xoxo, ftw, lmao…
We’ve replaced syllables with letters and then made them words again.
We’ve shortened adjectives and conjunctions, verbs and nouns to lazy slang.
We’ve replaced the roots of ancient Latin and Greek to meaningless amenities.
But worst of all we’ve shortened love, why say “I love you” when you could say “ily?”
We’ve replaced relationships with screens, why leave your home when you could Facebook?
So fyi, Im not really rofl, cuz it’s awful awk when you lol by yurself. Jk, ily. Oh, and by the way, yolo!

*disclaimer: i'm not judging anyone who uses "text talk" or abbreviations, i think they have there place. and i definitely don't think saying ily or facebooking is always (or ever, for some) a bad thing...but that being said, i also think it is sad sometimes how our language is slowly deteriorating.
