When I close my eyes, I see dreams stretching out into
eternity. In the darkness of my mind, in the hidden place behind my eyelids, I
see what could be, what should be, what will be. And the blood and the dirt and
the pain and the fear has no place there. When my eyes are closed, I can block
out the bent and crooked, focus on the beauty and the joy.
And when I rub my closed eyes, palms pressed toddler tight
against my face, I see the darkness redeemed. I see sparkles, moonbursts, and
sunstars bursting into forever.
The happy tone really contrasts what's actually being said about this person's life here. Honestly, I find this pretty depressing beneath the imagery. Good stuff. Oh, and what a good title!
ReplyDeleteI love this part especially: "In the darkness of my mind, in the hidden place behind my eyelids, I see what could be, what should be, what will be. And the blood and the dirt and the pain and the fear has no place there."
