Avoidance 5.3.2011

She opened the door and gasped at the sight before her. 
He looked up, his face stretched thin with pain. 
“I’m sorry, can I come in?” he gasped. 
She hesitated, taking in his battered appearance. She looked at his eyes. She couldn’t help but open the door. His eyes were deeper than any she had ever seen. They spoke the words he couldn’t.  
“Ma! A guest!”  
She lead him to a couch were he collapsed groaning. His beautiful soul-piercing eyes closed.
“I’ve called the authorities,” her mother called.
His eyes opened wide, fearful. 

“They’re the ones I was avoiding.”
