Element (My drabble for May 5th)

El-e-ment |ˈeləmənt|

noun

1 a part or aspect of something abstract, esp. one that is essential or characteristic 

Adjusting, measuring, lining up, taking care. This, this is my element. This is where I feel secure. This is where I—  I can do anything.  *Click* I adjust and readjust. Corrected,  I press the release. The whir of the shutter, the snap as it pops back in.  I nod (or grimace) — go back to the first steps. Adjust. Re-adjust. Repeat until it’s good. Release the shutter.
