That night the power went out, the stars shone so
brightly. I mean, I guess they always
shone so brightly but I was just never able to see them that well. The dead light twinkling at me, from eons and
light years away. I know they are just
great big balls of gas whirling around in space. Heat and light fighting against the cold and
dark.
I don’t care what science says. It’s magic.
The streetlights
flickered once tonight. I almost wished
the power was out again.
That night, I saw four shooting stars.
Each time I wished for you.
